JiangSu DanYang---A Small City



There is a really small city called Danyang in Changzhou Jiangsu province. It is a mysterious city with a long history, and I will show you the beautiful scenery and tell you amazing stories about the city.

Date back to about 3000 years ago, when China was in warring state period. Danyang belonged to Wu district. The emperor had a son called JiZha. To avoid being the next emperor, he withdrew from the society and lived here. In memory of his noble character, people here built this temple. The most interesting thing about the temple is six wells in it. The water is boiling! People here think it is the gas of dragon.



Time flies, let’s walk through the time tunnel and come to three kingdom period. There are two famous beauties during the period called Daqiao and Xiaoqiao. It is said that they were born in the city, in a quiet and classical alley called qiao’s alley. There is also a beautiful lake called training lake in the city. It is said that Zhouyu once trained his soldiers here. So I think maybe Zhou and Xiaoqiao met in the city and fell in love with each other, surrounded by the water and lotus. It’s so romantic!

Not many years, China broke up again. The small city became the hometown of two emperors. After they died, they were buried here. So the scenery here is a little sad. The money, the power, the position, everything fade, they can’t beat time.

Then we come to the Tang dynasty. Grand Canal was constructed at this time. This is the end of Grand Canal in our city. The canal helps economics a lot.

Then we arrive at the Ming dynasty. The emperor built a tower called perfect tower to show his faith for Buddha. Now it is in a lovely park. But there is a strange practice that people can’t stand in front of the tower to take photos. I don’t know why. I just think the scenery is very beautiful.

Our final station comes, the Qing dynasty. The emperor Qianlong went to the south of Yangtze River and came to my hometown. But my hometown was so poor that it couldn’t provide much expensive food, the leader of the area offered the barley porridge for the emperor. But the emperor liked it so much that he decided to stay here for another three days. And the porridge became famous since then.

Now the city is not only historical but also modern, about 70 percent of the world’s glasses are made here. It brings people beautiful memories and it also teach people to live peacefully, to live happily.
